South Texas Oil Plus officially began operations in January 2016 after David and Dee McCready purchased the former Rapid Lube in Aransas Pass, Texas. They came across the opportunity to buy the business and it was a good fit: David was seeking a way to make an honest living while reducing work travel, work with his hands more, and leverage his (gulp) 35+ years in the automotive aftermarket. Dee’s 30+years in nursing has shaped her into a great customer service advocate, as she would say, “ I’m just providing health care to cars now.”
Below is our mission and values statements. While they are only words, we strive to humbly hang on to these “roots” as we build a company made up of people who walk the talk.
South Texas Oil Plus exists to provide our market areas with the best vehicle maintenance services in the shortest time possible at fair prices. The ownership does this by intentionally placing these values first in our endeavors.
We place integrity above cost and profit. We seek to do the right thing every time. This means honest and fair dealings with our customers, vendors, and team members. We seek win-win relationships.
We treat customers as we wish to be treated-- with respect, kindness, and compassion. We value their time, their revenue, their vehicles, and their opinion. We listen to the customer’s needs and we may present recommendations for additional services. We respect the customer’s decision to accept or decline our recommendations.
We work with purpose. We think twice before saying “no” but we only perform work that we are confident we can do well and safely.
We believe in continuous improvement—finding best practices and then improving them. We accomplish this through training, research, and looking at others, both inside and outside of our industry.
We value our fellow team members through open communication, respecting each other’s opinions, compensating fairly, and empowering to make decisions based on proven ability.
We go about our work as professionals as shown by our words and actions. We hold each other accountable to these values.
We value hard work but never at the expense of unnecessary risk. If we cannot perform a task safely, we manage the risk or we do not perform the job. We maintain a productive pace but we never sacrifice safety for potential profit. We identify and personally own unacceptable risks and either avoid them or put practices in place to make them acceptable.
We believe in work/home balance. We believe that we add to our quality of life at home by working enthusiastically, using time wisely and being mindful of safe practices and business expenses.
These values are shaped by the owners’ desire to adhere to: “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord.” (Col. 3:23)
